Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth. It’s the standard diluent for reconstituting peptides and allows the solution to remain usable for up to 28 days when refrigerated.

A U-100 syringe has markings where 100 units = 1ml. This is the most common insulin syringe and is used for subcutaneous peptide injections. When this calculator says “10 IU,” it means 10 tick marks on your U-100 syringe.

Common amounts are 1ml or 2ml. Using less water gives a higher concentration (smaller injection volume per dose), while more water makes measuring small doses easier. For most peptides, 2ml is a good balance between accuracy and convenience.

Sterile water can be used but must be used within 24 hours as it contains no preservative. BAC water is strongly recommended as it preserves the reconstituted solution for up to 28 days when refrigerated.
